09 / GOOD TO KNOW

BEFORE YOU
ONE SESSION.

Can gym training affect a child's height?+

Appropriately designed, supervised training is not considered a cause of stunted growth. Children at YourFit do not follow adult routines, attempt maximum lifts or chase performance targets. Coaching prioritises technique, control and gradual progression suited to development.

How is training supervised for children?+

Kids Movement & Training is offered as private 1:1 or 1:2 coaching, allowing close supervision throughout the session. Exercises, equipment and loads reflect each child's age and ability, with technique taught before difficulty increases.

Can parents follow their child's progress?+

Yes. Your coach records movement skills and participation, and checks in with parents regularly to explain how their child is progressing.

Will my child have to lift heavy weights?+

No. Children may begin with bodyweight, balls, resistance bands, light dumbbells or other suitable equipment. Loads increase only when technique is well controlled. There is no required weight to lift to prove strength.

What about injury risk?+

All physical activity carries some risk. Sessions manage that risk through suitable exercises, sound technique and direct supervision. Please tell us about previous injuries or health concerns so the coach can assess and adapt appropriately.

Does my child need to train to exhaustion?+

No. Sessions provide an appropriate challenge while maintaining technique and a positive experience. The long-term aim is for children to enjoy movement and want to continue.

Can a child with low fitness or a higher body weight join?+

Yes. The coach starts from your child's current ability and adapts pace, repetitions, activity time and exercises. Children are not compared with one another or expected to meet the same fitness standard.

Can my child join if they find it hard to concentrate?+

They may be able to. Sessions use short activities and challenges rather than lengthy periods of listening or standing still. Communication and session structure are adapted to the child's attention and needs.

Do parents need to stay during the session?+

Usually not. The coach supervises the session directly. For a child's first sessions, discuss their personality, health, interests and any practical concerns with the coach to help them settle in.

What if my child doesn't like the gym?+

This is not an adult gym workout. Games, running, jumping, throwing and catching offer different ways to be active. Enjoyment comes first; skills and fitness develop gradually from there.
